“Marketing the Market”
The majority of people promoting Traffic Exchanges are highlighting the traffic aspect of these services. It’s easy to see how anyone can get traffic to a website with a traffic exchange. So selling the ‘traffic’ is natural.
However, the more important issue any advertiser or marketer must address is the conversion of their traffic into signups and sales. As we have learned in the TEP Traffic Report, the first step in the conversion process is to build a relationship.
Don’t think of a traffic exchange as a place to get traffic, rather a very targeted source of leads to build your list.
The ‘list building’ aspect of Traffic Exchanges is much more powerful than their ability to simply generate traffic.
One of my favorite promotions for the TE market comes from Guido Nussbaum, owner of Traffic Witch. Look at this headline from the Traffic Witch website.
“If You’re Not Using Manual Traffic Exchanges You’re Leaving 100′s and 1000′s of Subscribers and Referrals a Month on the Table.”
Guido is marketing Traffic Exchanges as a way to build a list of subscribers… the same strategy taught by TE Profits.
Many new advertisers join Traffic Exchanges daily looking for a way to advertise their services by getting visitors to their websites. As we now know, this is a formula for frustration. They do not yet know how to use Traffic Exchanges to generate leads and market their business properly.
Most of these frustrated advertisers leave the TE market to advertise elsewhere. Where do they go?
The logical progression from the TE market is to a closely related communication medium… Safelists. These include traditional double opt-in (safe) lists as well as newer versions (credit based and incentivized) called ‘List Builders’.
From the TE Profits Traffic Report…
Hit Exchanges and Safelists
Many varieties of Traffic Exchanges are on the market with new ones being created on a regular basis. The two most popular are “Hit Exchanges” and “Safelists.”
A “Hit Exchange” allows you to submit your website and then browse (surf) through other websites to earn credits so other members will view your website.
A “Safelist” is simply another type of traffic exchange. Rather than surfing a manual hit exchange, you are exchanging emails. It is safe from spam because all who are on the list have agreed to receive your emails.
The purpose of a Hit Exchange and Safelist are the same: to exchange traffic. “You look at my site, I look at yours.”
The definitions above are based on terminology used in TrafficHoopla, where a “Hit Exchange” is the same as a manual Traffic Exchange. When using the term “Safelist” we are also including List Builders and Text Ad Exchanges.
You’ll find several in your TrafficHoopla back office as well as in VitalViral. Personal recommendations proven to work with TE Profits are also identified here in your back office. Be sure to review the recommended tools in the Referral Builder menu.
Most people in the Safelist market are just like TE surfers. They are trying to mass advertise their business will little or no knowledge of proper marketing. They soon become frustrated and wonder why nothing is working. They need help!
Offer help to Safelist users and you will generate more leads for your business. Apply what you have learned about marketing in Traffic Exchanges to the Safelist market and you will consistently add to your list of leads.
Do NOT advertise products, services, or biz-ops in Safelists. Generate leads by focusing on what the market desperately wants…
Traffic, Leads and Cash.
